Father indicted on charges of killing his three sons in Ohio

Chad Doerman has been charged with aggravated murder, kidnapping and assault for killing his three sons ages 3, 4 and 7 in Ohio on June 15th. His motive has not been revealed. The mother was outside the home but was shot in the hand while trying to protect her sons.

OceanGate CEO's wife is a descendant of Macy's co-owner who died on the Titanic

Wendy Rush, the wife of OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, is the great-great-granddaughter of Isidor and Ida Straus, co-owner of Macy's department store. Wendy Rush is descended from Minnie, one of the Strauses' daughters. This comes after the announcement of Stockton Rush and four other men dying in a transported submersible that imploded in the North Atlantic. One of the main reasons the Strauses are well-known is because of their choice to go down together on the Titanic.

Broadway lyricist Sheldon Harnick dead at 98

Sheldon Harnick, the lyricist behind such Broadway hits as "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Fiorello!" has died at 98. Harnick was part of one of the most influential partnerships in Broadway history with composer Jerry Bock. His work also included collaborations with several other composers and creating lyrics for TV and film. Harnick died in New York City of natural causes and was remembered fondly by the Broadway community.

Starbucks workers to strike over alleged banning of Pride displays

Over 3,500 Starbucks workers plan to strike due to union organizer claims that Pride displays were being banned in U.S. stores. Starbucks denies these claims and says the union is spreading misinformation. The union also claims that managers around the country have been removing or curtailing displays citing safety concerns, however Starbucks maintains its support for LGBTQ+ employees.

Social media star Andrew Tate and three others accused of human trafficking remain under house arrest in Romania

Andrew Tate, a controversial social media personality, is one of four defendants who remain under house arrest for 30 days in Romania while facing charges of forming a criminal group in order to commit the crime of human trafficking. The indictment alleges that the group sexually exploited and subjected seven female victims to physical violence after luring them to Romania with false pretenses of love. The house arrest measure was extended by order of DIICOT and can be appealed in 48 hours. Tate has denied the charges, claiming a political conspiracy to silence him. Tate was previously banned from several prominent social media platforms, and several women in Britain are pursuing civil claims against him for sexual violence.

Texas state Senator can't vote on Paxton impeachment trial, rules committee decides

Texas state Senator Angela Paxton, who represents state Senate District 8, will not be able to vote on 'any matter, motion, or question' during the trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton, according to rules for the trial that were adopted on Wednesday night. Her presence at the trial is still required and, even as a non-voter, her seat will contribute to the overall calculation for the vote: With 31 senators seated, 21 votes are required to permanently remove the attorney general from office.

Over 500 Pakistani migrants still missing after shipwreck in Greece

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan reported to the National Assembly that approximately 700 migrants were on a boat that sank in Greece on June 14th, with only 104 surviving and 82 bodies recovered. About 281 families have contacted the government to report missing relatives who may have been on the ship and officials are collecting DNA samples to help identify the bodies. Thus far, 17 suspected human traffickers have been arrested for arranging travel for the Pakistanis on the fishing boat. Many of the missing migrants are from economically struggling areas of Pakistan.

Black women are more than three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women.
